Start in San Francsico<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>San Francsico is a great starting point for a roadtrip, as you can spend a couple of days here to explore the city. Furthermore it is recommended to drive from north to south on Highway No. 1 as you will be always on the &#8220;coast&#8221; side and you can stop right on that side. The famous cable cars, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bride are the most famous sights in San Francisco. Besides there are several nice parks and also a nice beach. From San Francisco to Monterey<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The &#8220;17 miles drive&#8221; in Monterey is not a &#8220;must see&#8221; attraction. On Highway No. 1 to Santa Maria<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The way from Monterey to Santa Maria on Highway No. 1 is a really great experience. If the wheather is good there are several possibilites to stop and enjoy the nature or just have a sandwich in one of the lodges.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2126\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.byteyourlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Highway-No.-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2126\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2126\" title=\"Highway No. 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.byteyourlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Highway-No.-11-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Highway No. 1\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2126\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Highway No. 1<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Passing Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park with some nice waterfalls we decided to stay overnight in Santa Maria.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Through_Solvang_and_via_Santa_Barbara_to_LA\"><\/span>4. Through Solvang\u00a0and via Santa Barbara to L.A.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[sam id=1 codes=&#8217;false&#8217;]<\/p>\n<p>A fancy small Danish city is Solvang. You really can feel already the southern and mexican flair of this city. It is on the top of a mountain and you will get there with the &#8220;museum train&#8221; that brings all visitors from the parking lot to the museum.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2113\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.byteyourlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Getty-Museum-Los-Angeles.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2113\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2113\" title=\"Getty Museum Los Angeles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.byteyourlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Getty-Museum-Los-Angeles-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Getty Museum Los Angeles\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2113\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Getty Museum Los Angeles<\/p><\/div>\n<p>L.A. downtown is not really a place to stay longer &#8211; only for those who want to walk on the famous &#8220;Walk of fame&#8221; in Hollywood should go there. Hollywood is also a good place to stay overnight as there are several cheap hotels.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_San_Diego\"><\/span>5. San Diego<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>San Diego is not far away from Mexico and is one of the biggest US military bases.
